South Dakota State University third baseman Andrew Melton has been selected as Summit League Player of the Week after a successful opening round of games for the Jackrabbits.

A senior from Littleton, Colo., Melton hit safely in all four games of a weekend trip to Florida. He posted three hits in the Jackrabbits' 10-5 win over St. Bonaventure (N.Y.) on Feb. 23, followed by a 4-for-6 effort the next day against the Bonnies, collecting a pair of doubles, two runs scored and three runs batted in.

For the week, which included games against Waldorf (Iowa) and Ohio State, Melton batted .429 (9-for-21) with a .480 on-base percentage and .571 slugging percentage. He scored five runs, drove in four runs and tallied three doubles.

The Jackrabbits, 4-2 on the season, are scheduled to play a three-game series Friday through Sunday in Greenville, Miss., against Mississippi Valley State.
