Nate Hansen

Nate Hansen is in his fifth season as an assistant wrestling coach at South Dakota State University.

A Gregory native, Hansen won three consecutive South Dakota Class B state titles from 2001-03 and recorded six top-five finishes. He then went on to a successful collegiate career at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where he earned NCAA Division III All-America honors twice.

Hansen placed fourth at 125 pounds in 2006, then won a national title in the same weight class as a senior in 2007. He also won an Iowa Conference title in 2007 and was honored as a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association as a junior and senior.

After a two-year stint as a graduate assistant under coach Liles, Hansen graduated from South Dakota State with a Master's degree from South Dakota State Exercise Science in 2009. He currently works on campus for the National Childrens Study.

In 2011 Hansen finished in second place at the U.S. Grappling World Team Trials in Las Vegas, Nev. He will serve as an alternate and may travel to Serbia to compete.
