ELMHURST, Ill. - Ashley Valdez earns her first career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor after a first-place finish in the 100 Fly against Nebraska last Saturday.  She touched the wall with a time of 58.96 seconds, which is the second-fastest time in the Summit League this season. 

The senior from Eaton, Colo., also swam the leadoff leg on the 400 freestyle relay that closed the meet with a top time of 3 minutes, 42.35 seconds.

SDSU returns to the pool with a double dual vs. Western Illinois and North Dakota on Friday at the HPER Center pool at 6 p.m., followed by a dual vs. Iowa State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
