INDIANAPOLIS -- Day one of the Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships saw the South Dakota State women break a pair of relay records, while the men took down one of their own.

"In our pre-meet huddle, we talked about tonight setting the tone for the entire championships," head coach Brad Erickson said. "Breaking three out of four school records gives us a lot of confidence moving forward."

After two events, both squads sit in third place with 62 points.

On the women's side, the 800 freestyle relay squad of Andee Budahl, Hadlie Overhue, Julia Bodnaruk and Nicole Grimit finished in 7:28.46, which was good for second place and broke the 2012 mark of 7:34.66.

Samantha Prasher, Emily Campbell, Nicole Grimit and Shauna Foor also took down the 200 medley relay school record as they crossed in 1:45.48, which was good for fifth place.

On the men's side, Garth Wadsworth, Ben Bolinske, Daniel Jacobson and Blake Yeager's time of 6:46.60 broke last year's school record of 6:47.01. The Jacks took third place in the event.

Phil Albu, Bolinske, Tony Mikrut and Wil Hogue also placed fourth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.87.

Action will resume at the House of Champions on the campus of IUPUI at 11 a.m.
