Lally honored on All-Freshman Team
South Dakota State University linebacker T.J. Lally was named Tuesday to the College Sports Journal Football Championship Subdivision Freshman All-America Team.
A Chicago native, Lally started all 13 games during the 2012 season and finished second on the team with 107 tackles. In addition, he shared the team lead with six sacks, ranked third with eight tackles for loss and added two interceptions and two forced fumbles.
Lally, who was a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award as the top freshman in the FCS ranks, was a second-team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection and was named to the league's All-Newcomer Team. He was honored as the MVFC Newcomer of the Week on four occasions in 2012.
Lally was one of 13 MVFC players honored on the 63-player squad — the most from any FCS conference.
