GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The South Dakota State women’s swimming & diving fell to North Dakota 161-139 in its season debut.

Senior Andee Budahl earned a pair of victories to lead the way for the Jacks on the afternoon. Budahl won the 500 and 1000 freestyles with times of 5:11.34 and 10:35.18, respectively.

Freshman Julia Bodnaruk won the 200 freestyle in her Jackrabbit debut with a mark of 1:57.30. Other victories on the day included Devonne Dalin in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.37 and Emily Campbell in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:24.53.

The Jacks’ relay squads swept both events as they won the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay. The 200 medley relay team consisted of McKenna Shallberg and Nicole Grimit, along with Campbell and Dalin. They finished with a mark of 1:49.75. The 400 yard freestyle team included Selina Gilbertson and Kaylin Caron, along with Dalin and Grimit.

"We came up short against a really good team today in North Dakota," head coach Brad Erickson said. "We had some good swims despite the team scores, but we just didn't have the depth that we needed. That will come as we continue to develop and learn."

SDSU will return to action tomorrow afternoon as they host Omaha at HPER Center Pool at 2 p.m.
