Garner threw the weight 61 feet, three and one-half inches to break the school indoor record and claim the title. The throw was a season best by over one foot, as well as a personal best, and broke the school indoor record by six inches.
The win gave the SDSU women two league champions through two events.
McKenzie Johnson, Amy Paulzine and Shelby Assmus also competed in the weight throw for SDSU.
Johnson and Paulzine finished in seventh and eighth place, respectively. Both threw the weight a season- and personal-best; Johnson threw it 53 feet, seven and three-fourth inches, while Paulzine tossed the weight 53 feet, five inches. Assmus finished in 14th with a throw of 49 feet, 10 inches.
