Jacks add two more titles...

The South Dakota State men's and women's track and field teams added two more titles in the final day of the Outdoor Championships...

On the men’s side, Jake Schneller headlined as best in the 800 with a time of 1:50.95. Schneller entered the finals with the second-best time in the preliminaries from Friday, but took the top spot on Day 3 to win by 0.13 seconds. The time was over two seconds faster than the preliminary mark. Dominic Thielen and Jared Ailts finished in sixth and eighth, respectively.

Jake Brinkmann capped the outdoor season with a league championship in the discus. Brinkmann won with a mark of 171 feet, eight inches, a season-best by nearly three feet. Brinkmann posted the mark on the second throw of the finals to win by six feet. Ryan Ackman and Cullen Mack also placed sixth and seventh in the discus, respectively. Ackman posted a season-best mark of 156 feet, nine inches.

Ailts shined in the highly competitive 1500-meter run with a third-place finish in 3:55.07, only two seconds behind the winner.

Jared Vlastuin reached the podium for the third time this Championships with a third-place finish in the triple jump. The mark of 46 feet, 10 and one-fourth inches is a season-best for Vlastuin, who only competed in the triple jump once this outdoor season prior to this weekend. Jake Sanderson also scored in the triple jump with a mark of 45 feet, one inch, to finish sixth.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Carson, Schneller, Thielen and Priebe were third in 3:17.01, a season-best by any SDSU foursome.

In a field of 42 runners, Trent Lusignan finished fifth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 14:54.77.

Justin Carson, Levi Winkels, Austin Colombe and Chris Curry placed eighth in the 4x100 with a time of 43.71.

Brandon Priebe and Carson went fifth, sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with times of 53.50 and 53.91, respectively, a season-best for Carson. In the 110-meter hurdles, Priebe was also eighth in 15.30.

Chris Curry finished fifth in the 200 with a time of 22.03 and eighth in the 100 with a time of 11.03.

For the women, Brooke Garner opened the day with a runner-up finish in the discus with a mark of 161 feet, seven inches. Garner posted the mark in the preliminaries and it held up for second place. Amy Paulzine also scored in the discus with a mark of 148 feet, four inches, for sixth place.

Lora Shearer continued her weekend with a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.79.

In the 4x100-meter relay, Amber Olson, Ashley Odegaard, Gina Fritz and Megan Bren were third in 46.76, a season-best time for any SDSU foursome.

Odegaard was third in the 100-meter dash, as well, with a time of 12.11, second-best of the season.

Bren also placed third in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 24.35 and fourth in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 56.59.

Fritz also scored in the 200 with a season-best time of 24.61 to place fifth.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Fritz, Odegaard, Jessica McDonald and Ashley Gruenwald was fifth in 3:55.13.

In the 800-meter run, Krista Creager finished sixth with a time of 2:14.19, a season-best.

The men finished fourth in the team standings, while the women were fifth.
