Jackrabbits travel to Ames and Mankato
The Iowa State Bill Bergan Invite:
The Iowa State Bill Bergan Invite is hosted by Iowa State in Ames, Iowa at the Lied Recreation Center.
The meet features teams from across the nation as Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Minnesota, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Texas and Wisconsin are scheduled to attend.
The field events start on Friday with the women’s weight throw at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, the field events begin at 11 a.m., with the women’s pole vault. The running events on Saturday start at 10 a.m., with the women’s 3000-meter run.
The Minnesota State Open:
The Minnesota State Open is hosted by Minnesota State, Mankato in Mankato, Minn., at the Myers Field House.
The women’s pentathlon and men’s heptathlon are scheduled to take place on Friday.
The action on Friday starts at 3 p.m., with the women’s weight throw. On Saturday, the men’s long jump starts the field events at 10 a.m., and the running events are slated to begin at noon with the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles.

Last Time Out:
SDSU competed last weekend at the Jack Johnson Classic in Minneapolis. A handful of Jackrabbits set personal bests in their respective events, including Shelby Assmus, who set two personal best distances. Assmus recorded marks of 47 feet 1 ½ inches in the shot put and 57-1 in the weight throw. Her marks rank seventh (shot put) and fourth (weight throw) all-time at SDSU.
On the men’s side, Austin Benson won his first event as a Jackrabbit. He tallied a distance of 51-5 ¾ in the shot put event. On the second day of the Jack Johnson Invite, four Jackrabbit men set personal bests, including Cullen Mack. Mack recorded a distance of 53-4 ½ in the weight throw, his toss currently ranks sixth all-time at SDSU.
The Jackrabbits are slated to compete in the Husker Invite and the USD Open next weekend. The Husker Invite is a two-day meet (Feb. 7-8) in Lincoln, Neb. The University of South Dakota hosts the USD Open on Feb. 8 in Vermillion, S.D.
