Carper places second in the long jump

AMES, Iowa – The Jackrabbit track and field teams wrapped up action on Friday as they competed in the Iowa State Bill Bergan Invite and the Minnesota State Open. At the Iowa State Bill Bergan Invite, Carly Carper led the Jackrabbits with her second place finish in the long jump event.

Carper tallied a distance of 17 feet, 11 inches on her third attempt in the long jump event.

Also at the Bill Bergan Invite, the Jackrabbits had throwers compete in the weight throw on both the men’s and the women’s side. Amy Paulzine posted a mark of 52-8 ¾ to place seventh overall for the women.

Cullen Mack was the top-finisher for the Jackrabbit men in the weight throw for the second time this season on Friday. He recorded a final distance of 51-5 ¾ to take 12th overall.

The Jackrabbits continue competition tomorrow at the Bill Bergan Invite. The first event tomorrow (women’s unseeded 3k) is slated for a start time of 10 a.m.


MANKATO, Minn. – A few Jackrabbits competed on day one of the Minnesota State Open. Jensen Orlow finished ninth overall in the 3,000-meter run as he ran a final time of 9:16.52.

Logan Amdahl recorded a personal best height of 10-8 ¼ in the pole vault as she placed 11th overall. Her mark is seventh-best all-time during the indoor season for SDSU.

Cailyn Schreurs took part in the pentathlon, but did not run in the 800-meter run. She did post three personal bests on the day. She collected personal-best marks in the 60-meter hurdles (9.44 seconds), long jump (16 ¼) and the shot put (30-6 ½). Schreurs also posted a height of 4-8 ¾ in the high jump event.

The action resumes on Saturday at 10 a.m., with the men’s long jump event.
