Final day of conference solid for Jackrabbit women

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Shelby Assmus, Mary Wirth and the 4x400-meter relay team posted second-place finishes on the final day of the 2013-14 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships. Assmus posted a personal-best mark of 47 feet, 11 1/4 inches in the shot put, Wirth cleared a height of 5-9 3/4 in the high jump and the 4x400-meter relay team (Gina Fritz, Jessica McDonald, Kala McDonald and Jacleen Patterson) posted a time of 3 minutes, 54.67 seconds. Assmus' mark ranks sixth all-time at SDSU, while the 4x400-meter relay time ranks 10th all-time at SDSU.

Also in the shot put, Trisha Sumption took 10th with her distance of 41-11 1/2.

Two Jackrabbit jumpers joined Wirth in the top-10 of the high jump event. Kali Olson and Ashley Wagner went back-to-back with their fifth- and sixth-place finishes. Olson posted a height of 5-5 3/4 and Wagner cleared a height of 5-1 3/4.

Carly Carper posted a personal-best time of 7.66 as she ran to a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash. Her time ranks second all-time in the SDSU record books. Also in the 60-meter dash, Fritz placed sixth with her time of 7.89.

In the 200-meter dash, Carper (24.94) and Fritz (25.46) went fifth and sixth. Carper’s time of 24.94 is a personal best and ranks third all-time at SDSU.

Marissia Hagedorn ran a personal-best time of 9.03 to place third in the 60-meter hurdles. Her time ranks seventh all-time in school history.

In the women’s one-mile run, four Jackrabbits finished in the top-10. Jessica Eibs, Brooke Peterson and Lindsey Strait went back-to-back-to-back to claim sixth through eighth. Eibs ran a time of 5:02.00, Peterson went 5:07.62 and Strait finished in 5:08.05. Samantha Anderson rounded out the top-10 with her time of 5:10.17.

Eibs also posted a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run as she crossed the finish line in 2:19.87.

In the 5,000-meter run, three Jackrabbit runners finished in the top-10. Megan West and Courtney Neubert finished back-to-back in fifth and sixth. West ran a time of 17:39.79 and Neubert posted a time of 17:41.45. Erin Hargens crossed the finish line in a season-best time of 17:53.92 to place ninth.

Jenna Stephens placed sixth in the triple jump with her mark of 37 1/2.

In the pole vault, both Logan Amdahl and Courtney Trapp cleared a height of 10-3 1/4. Amdahl finished in a tie for sixth and Trapp placed ninth.

The Jackrabbits begin their outdoor season campaign in late March when they travel to the Arizona State University Invite (March 28-29) and the Wayne State Invitational (March 29).
