Eibs leads 800M pack to personal-best times

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Four Jackrabbit mid-distance runners posted personal-best times Friday at the Sioux City Relays, including Jessica Eibs who dropped almost four seconds off her old personal-best time (2:16.49) in the 800-meter run. In the 800-meter run, Eibs went on to take the runner-up spot with her personal-best time of 2 minutes, 12.56 seconds. Her time today moves her seventh all-time at SDSU.

Also setting personal-best times in the 800-meter run, were Lindsey Strait, Karley Konkol and Brooke Peterson. Strait (2:15.89) took fifth, Konkol (2:17.25) placed seventh and Peterson (2:18.51) finished ninth.

Courtney Trapp bested her old personal-best height in the pole vault by two feet. Trapp cleared a height of 11 feet, 6 1/4 inches to place sixth. Also in the pole vault, Logan Amdahl set a personal-best height of 10-6 1/4 to take ninth. Trapp moves into sixth all-time at SDSU and Amdahl has the 10th-best height in school history.

In the prelims of the 100-meter hurdles, Marissia Hagedorn posted the second-fastest time (15.23) and Cailyn Schreurs clocked in for the eighth-fastest time (15.68).

Marisa Shady and Erica Meyer posted back-to-back finishes in the 400-meter dash. Shady finished 20th (1:01.74) and Meyer took 21st (1:01.86).

Two Jackrabbit jumpers placed in the top-10 of the high jump event. Mary Wirth placed second with her height of 5-8 and Kali Olson took seventh with her height of 5-2 1/4.

Lori Foltz ran a season-best time of 1:05.42 in the 400-meter hurdles to take fifth. Also in the 400-meter hurdles, Evelyn Klein clocked in at 1:08.07 to place 13th.

Megan Viland posted a time of 13.81 in the 100-meter dash.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Viland, Amdahl, Elizabeth Molitor and Trapp combined for a final time of 1:49.61.

DES MOINES, Iowa - Alex Suhr won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Jim Duncan Invite with her personal-best time of 11 minutes, 7.49 seconds. Her time today ranks ninth all-time at SDSU.

Also in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Kirsten Anderson took third with her personal-best time of 11:15.94.

In the 5,000-meter run, Jenna Grossenburg and Cheyanne Bowers both placed in the top-15. Grossenburg took ninth with her personal-best time of 18:04.91 and Bowers ran a time of 18:15.41 to take 11th.

The Jackrabbits are back in action tomorrow at the Nebraska Quad starting at 10 a.m.
