XC competes at Griak Invite

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The South Dakota State men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Griak Invitational, hosted by Minnesota, Saturday in St. Paul, Minn. 

The men placed 15th out of 22 teams. Duke, North Carolina State and New Mexico rounded out the top-three for the men.

Anthony Bongard led the Jackrabbits with a 60th place finish out of 212 competitors. The junior finished the 8K with a time of 25 minutes and 29.30 seconds.

Michael Krsnak followed in 90th place with a time of 25:52.80, while Eddie Stenger came in 118th with a time of 26:12.70.

Jared Ailts finished in 136th with a time of 26:37.30, Kyle Schmidt finished in 141st with a time of 26:42.80, Greg Vollmer finished in 154th with a time of 26:56.90 and Jake Schneller finished 165th with a time of 27:08.70.

On the women's side, Erin Hargens led the way. She finished in 81st place out of 300 competitors in the 6k with a time of 22:37.

As a team, the women finished in 23rd place of 29 teams.  Arizona, New Mexico and Iowa State finished in the top-three.

Kelsey Aune took 133rd place with a time of 23:10.70, while Tera Potts followed behind her in 197th place with a time of 24:02.20. 

Danielle McCann finished in 223rd place with a time of 24:32.40, Mariah Hofer finished in 235th place with a time of 24:45.5, Katie Boote finished in 245th place with a time of 25:00.30 and Josie Oakland finished in 245th place with a time of 25:10.6.  

The Jacks host the SDSU Classic at Edgebrook Golf Club in Brookings, S.D. Oct 2.
