Rabbits run to personal bests at Bradley

PEORIA, Ill. – The South Dakota State women’s cross country team ran to a sixth place finish at the Bradley Classic on Friday afternoon. All 12 Jackrabbit runners set personal bests in a 6k race at the meet.

Cheyanne Bowers led the Jackrabbit pack again as she finished in the top-20 in the race. Bowers placed 14th overall with her final time of 21:31.

Jessica Eibs and Courtney Neubert along with Bowers all ran sub-22 minute times. Eibs finished 12 seconds after Bowers to place 23rd overall (21:43). Neubert clocked in at 21:51 to take 36th.

Alex Suhr was the fourth Jackrabbit runner to cross the finish line in the top-50. Suhr posted a final time of 22:05 to finish 47th.

Laura Lawton rounded out the scoring for SDSU with her 54th place finish. She finished 10 seconds shy (22:15) of Suhr.

One of the notable finishers of the day was Marisa Shady. Shady dropped almost two minutes off of her personal best in a 6k race. She ran a time of 24:07.65 earlier this year at the Griak Invitational. Today she finished the race with a time of 22:24; she placed 74th.

As a team, the Jackrabbits tallied 165 points to place sixth overall. Missouri won the meet with a final score of 65 points.

The Jackrabbits are back in action next weekend at the Mount Mary Invitational as they prepare for The Summit League Championships. The Mount Marty Invitational is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 26.
