Bowers, Jackrabbits take 15th at Regionals
AMES, Iowa – The Jackrabbit women’s cross country team ended their 2013 season with a 15th place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet. Cheyanne Bowers (21:27.43) was the top finisher for the Jackrabbits as she placed 40th overall.
“The great thing about the women’s team, the parts are interchangeable. We had different people in top five today, we had people that stepped up when we needed them to step up," noted head coach Rod DeHaven on the performance of the women’s team. "Your fifth person can be as vital as the first person and we got really good performances out of our top five.”
Bowers’ 40th place finish ties the highest place finish for a SDSU runner at the regional meet. Ashley Storm ran a time of 21:55.1 to take 40th at the 2009 regional meet. Bowers’ also set a personal best in a 6k race today, her previous mark was 21:31.00.
