Bowers named Academic All-League
ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State’s Cheyanne Bowers was named to the Women's Cross Country Academic All-League Team by The Summit League on Wednesday. Bowers finished second overall at The Summit League Cross Country Championships with her final time of 21:34.38.
As a team, the Jackrabbits finished second at the conference meet.
Bowers also led the Jackrabbits to a tenth place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet last week. Individually, Bowers posted a time of 21:27.5 to place fortieth at the meet.
She was named to The Summit League Academic Honor Roll last season.
Bowers is an exercise science major with a 3.745 GPA.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. The cross country all-league teams are made up of the five student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
