FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 10 ranked South Dakota State equestrian team suffered a tough loss on Friday against the Fresno State Bulldogs, falling by a 13-3 score, which drops the Jackrabbits to 6-5 on the season.

"I wasn't thrilled with the results from today, but we hope for a better showing on Saturday," head coach Megan Rossiter said. "There is some competitions that don't go our way, but we're going to make tomorrow a better day."

The Bulldogs swept the Jacks in equitation on the flat in the morning, taking all four points. The Jacks earned one point each in the remaining three events; equitation over fences, reining and horsemanship.

"Despite the scores, I'm very proud of the ladies and how they rode," assistant coach Kamerra Brown said. "This is our first road show since November, and they showed that we are prepared and strong."

Sophomore Jordan Goodall earned the Jacks lone point over fences with a score of 83 to top her opponent's 78. In the reining pen, junior Laura Dunlavy scored a point for the Jacks with a score of 73.5, while junior Shelby Webb captured her point in horsemanship with a 71.5.

The Jackrabbits return to the arena on Saturday to take on New Mexico State in Fresno. Competition starts at 9 a.m., with fences and horsemanship.
