Won the weight throw at the MSU Preseason Open with a throw of 56 feet, 2.50 inches (12/3) ... best indoor shot put of 46 feet came at the Summit League Indoor Championships (2/24) ... set the SDSU recorrd in the hammer throw with a distance of 195 feet, 1 inch at the USF Relays (5/5) ... won three events in the discus competition, including a season best 171 feet, 8 inches at the Summit League Outdoor Championships (5/10)

2010-11
Best shot put during the indoor season of 48 feet, 3.25 inches came at the Bill Bergan Invite (1/29) ... won the weight throw at the Bison Open with a throw of 56 feet, 10 inches (2/4) ... won the weight throw (56 feet, 1,75 inches) and the shot put (48 feet, 3.25 inches) at the NSU Open (2/12) ... had a weight throw of 57 feet, 5.75 inches at the Summit League Championships, an indoor season best (2/27) ... had season bests in three events at the Summit League Championships including the shot put at 47 feet, 6.5 inches, the discus at 154 feet, 5 inches and the hammer throw with a distance of 184 feet, 6 inches (5/12-14)

2009-10
Finished first at the John Dalton Meet with a weight throw of 51 feet, 8.5 inches (2/6) ... won the weight throw at the Summit League Championship with a SDSU record throw of 59 feet, 5.75 inches (2/28) and had a team season best shot put of 50 feet, 6 inches (3/1) ... redshirted during the outdoor season

2008-09
Finished eighth in the discus at the Mount Sac Relay with a season best distance of 163 feet (4/17) … had a season best shot put of 47 feet, 10 inches at the SDSU Twilight to finish second (4/22) … season best hammer throw of 162 feet, 2 inches at the Howard Wood Relays was good enough for a seventh place finish and fourth best all-time in school history (5/1) … placed third at the Summit League Championships in the discus with a throw of 162 feet, 1 inch to earn all-conference honors (5/16)

2007-08
Indoors, threw a season best in the weight throw, 40 feet, 2 1/4 inches , at the Jack Johnson Invitational on Jan. 26...  at The Summit League Championships, Brinkmann threw 43 feet, 11 1/4 inches in the shot put to finished eighth... outdoors, in the discus throw at The Summit League Championships, threw a distance of 166 feet, 5 inches for a second place finish to earn an all-conference selection, placed sixth in the shot put with a season best 47 feet, 3 3/4 inches, and had a season best in the hammer throw to finish 11th at 149 feet, 9 inches

Before SDSU 
Jacob Brinkmann comes to South Dakota State from Mayer Lutheran High School in Plato, Minn., where he holds the school discus record with a throw of 172 feet, 3 inches. Brinkmann placed second at the Minnesota Class A discus and fourth in the shot put in his senior year. Mainly a discus thrower, Brinkmann will add depth in the hammer and weight throws as he gains experience.
