Women's head golf coach Jared Baszler as announced that the lone addition to the South Dakota State women's golf team for the 2013 class is Hallie Getz from Pierre, S.D. Getz signed a national letter of intent on Thursday and plans to enroll and compete at SDSU in the fall of 2013.
“Hallie is a perfect fit athletically and academically for South Dakota State. She played at a very high level this summer on both the junior and amateur circuits. We expect Hallie to contend for a spot on the traveling team right away as a freshman,” Baszler said.
Getz was named to all-conference (ESD) and all-state teams in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and led her team at T.F. Riggs High School to a team title at the 2012 ESD Conference tournament. She was the top golfer at the Class AA state tourney in 2012, with a 6th place finish in 2011 and was named to the all-tournament team both years.
Getz placed second at the 2012 SDGA Junior Championship and tied for sixth at the SDGA Women's Amateur Championship, which was the low for all juniors in the field. She was also a medalist at a US Junior Amateur qualifier and participated in the national USGA Junior Amateur. She was also recently named the 2012 Junior Golfer of the Year by the SDGA.
Getz plans to major in nursing.
