Jacks 11th in Florida after first round
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Jackrabbit women's golf team opened up play at the LPGA Xavier Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5, and stand in 11th place after 18 holes.
The Jacks shot a team score of 317 to open the 54-hole tournament being held at the 6,178-yard, par-72 LPGA International Golf Course. Xavier University is the tournament host with 18 schools competing.
Freshman Islamiah Fuad is tied for 21st place with a first round score of 77.
Sophomore Brianna Janu carded a 79 in the opening 18 holes and is tied for 40th place.
Fellow sophomore Sydney MacDonald posted an opening round score of 80 and is tied for 50th place.
Freshman Megan Mingo is tied for 54th place with a Saturday total of 81.
Junior Alli Plath rounds out the Jacks' lineup with a score of 83 and is tied for 65th place heading into the second round on Sunday.
Daytona State College is in first place after a first round of 300.
Mercer University's Lacey Fears is atop the player leaderboard with an even-par 72 after round one.
A shotgun start kicks off the second round at 7:30 a.m. (CST) on Sunday morning, with the third and final round beginning Monday morning at 7:15 a.m. (CST).
