Jackrabbit women finish fifth at Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The South Dakota State women's golf team finished in fifth place at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate Sunday afternoon. The Jackrabbits lowered their team score in each round, compiling a team total of 958 (322-319-317) in the eight-team and 50-player tournament.
Morgan Fitts led the Jackrabbits, finishing tied for eighth after shooting a 235 (75-81-79). Katie Purcell registered a score of 237 (81-76-80) and finished in 13th place. Brittany Hanten finished tied for 28th after tallying a score of 245 (84-84-77). Rachel Hanigan also finished tied for 28th and carded a 245 (82-80-83). Rebecca Swords shot a 247 (84-82-81) and finished tied for 32nd place. Abby Feehan competed as an individual and finished in 47th place, registering a score of 270 (92-91-87).
Host Iowa won the Hawkeye Intercollegiate with a score of 926 (301-313-312). Individually, Amy Anderson of North Dakota State finished in first place with a score of 214 (74-70-70).
The South Dakota State women play next at the USF Waterlefe Invitational on Oct. 4 in Bradenton, Fla.
