Hanigan leads Jacks in Florida
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The South Dakota State women's golf team posted its best round of the LPGA Xavier Invitational on the final day of competition, but remained in ninth place in the 14-team tournament. SDSU fired a final-round 310 to finishing with a 54-hole total of 936 (315-311-310), the second best 54-hole team score in school history.
Individually, Rachel Hanigan carded her second round of 75 in the tournament on Sunday to finish with a score of 229 (75-79-75) and lead the Jackrabbits with an 11th-place finish out of 78 competitors. It was tied for the fourth best indivedual 54-hole score in school history. Brittany Hanten registered a 232 (80-75-77) and finished tied for 22nd. Morgan Fitts and Katie Purcell both finished tied for 49th after compiling totals of 239 (83-76-80) and (80-81-78), respectively. Rebecca Swords tallied a 244 (80-81-83) and finished tied for 59th. Abby Feehan competed as an individual and registered a 266 (88-89-89.
Daytona State College won the LPGA Xavier Invitational with a team score of 894 (305-290-299). Daytona State's Mitsuki Katahira took medalist honors shooting a 210 (69-69-72).
The Jackrabbit women conclude the fall season at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial in Springfield, Mo., Oct. 18-19.
