CHANDLER, Ariz. - The South Dakota State women's golf team is currently in 19th place after the first day of competition in the Cowgirl Classic at the Ocotillo Golf Resort. The Jackrabbit women compiled a 36-hole team score of 650 (338-312) in the 23-team, 122-player tournament on Monday.

Morgan Fitts leads the Jackrabbit women with a score of 158 (85-73) and is tied for 50th place. Fitts' second round score of 73 ties her for the sixth-best 18-hole score in Jackrabbit women's D-I history. Rachel Hanigan is tied for 72nd after registering a 162 (85-77). Brittany Hanten carded a 164 (85-79) and is tied for 83rd. Katie Purcell tallied a 166 (83-83) and is tied for 93rd. Abby Feehan is tied for 105th place after shooting a 170 (86-84).

Portland State (Ore.) leads the tournament with a two-round score of 581 (294-287), while Britney Yada of Portland State leads individually with a score of 141 (71-70). The third and final round begins Tuesday morning.
