CHANDLER, Ariz. -- The South Dakota State women's golf team finished in 20th place at the Cowgirl Classic Tuesday. The Jackrabbit women compiled a team score of 969 (338-312-319) in the 23-team, 122-player tournament.
Morgan Fitts led the Jackrabbit women with a score of 238 (85-73-80) and finished tied for 64th. Fitts' second-round score of 73 is tied for the sixth-best 18-hole score in Jackrabbit women's D-I history. Brittany Hanten and Rachel Hanigan carded scores of 243 (85-79-79 and 85-77-81 respectively) and finished tied 82nd. Katie Purcell finished tied for 90th after tallying a 245 (83-83-79). Abby Feehan registered a 252 and finished tied for 106th.
Portland State (Ore.) won the Cowgirl Classic with a 54-hole team score of 871 (294-287-290), while Britney Yada of Portland State took medalist honors with a score of 213 (71-70-72).
The Jackrabbit women play next at the Creighton Classic in Omaha, Neb. on April 11.
