Jackrabbit women in fourth at league meet

PRIMM, Nev. - The South Dakota State women's golf team sits in fourth place after the first day of the Summit League Championships. The Jackrabbit women compiled a 36-hole score of 640 (316-324) at the Primm Valley Golf Club Lakes Course in the 10-team, 50-player tournament.

Morgan Fitts and Rachel Hanigan pace the Jacks with scores of 158 (80-78 and 79-79 respectively) and both are tied for 11th place. Katie Purcell shot a 161 (80-81) and is tied for 17th. Brittany Hanten is tied for 19th after carding a 163 (77-86). Abby Feehan tallied a 174 (86-88) and is tied for 39th.

SDSU finished the first round in third place, but slipped to fourth place in Monday's second round. Defending champion Oral Roberts leads by 10 strokes with a two-round score of 620 (313-307). Oakland is second at 630 (317-313), with Western Illinois third at 635 (315-320).

Individually, Tiffany Robbins of Oral Roberts, Mara Kovac and Amy Anderson of North Dakota State share the top spot on the leaderboard with scores of 149 (76-73, 71-78 and 72-77, respectively).

The third and final round starts Tuesday morning.
