The South Dakota State women's golf team signed three golfers to a National Letter of Intent for the 2012-13 season, head coach Jared Baszler announced.

Brianna Janu of Glenwood, Minn. was named to the all-state team in 2010 and 2011. She was named to the all-conference team from 2008-2011 and the conference gold medalist in 2011. She helped her high school win the Class AA State Team Championship in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

"Brianna comes to us from a highly successful high school program that has produced many college golfers in recent history," Baszler said. She hits the ball long off the tee which will help ease her transition to the college game. She is a well-rounded student-athlete who will fit our program perfectly."

Sydney MacDonald of Calgary, Alberta, was the 2010 Alberta PGA Junior Masters Champion She was the 2010 Canadian Junior Golf Association Mizuno All Canadian Award recipient. She also finished in the top-eight in four national junior FCWT events. MacDonald is the top ranked recruit in Alberta according to National Junior Golf Scoreboard.

"Sydney is the best golfer to come out of Alberta this year and we are excited she becomes our first Canadian recruit in our D-I era. Sydney is a perfect fit for SDSU as she will be majoring in one of our school's strongest majors (engineering).  We are looking forward to her making an immediate impact on our program next year."

Michaela Kouri, of Sioux Falls, finished second at the Class AA State tournament in 2011 and finished in the top-10 in 2010. She was named to the AA All-State team in 2011. She qualified for the USGA Junior Girls Amateur Championships in 2011. Kouri was named to the All-Conference team four years in a row (2008-2011).

"Michaela is one of the best to come out of South Dakota this year and we are excited she has chosen SDSU," Baszler said. "She is a model student-athlete who has shown a great amount of improvement on the golf course this year.  We are confident Michaela will continue that improvement within the Jackrabbit golf program."

"These three additions are paramount to the continued improvement of our program. The talent level next year will be as high as it has been in a long time and that is very exciting."
