Carpenter earns first Summit Golfer of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. -- South Dakota State golfer Hudson Carpenter carded a tournament-high 19 birdies and finished tied for fourth after shooting six-under par at the Jackrabbit Invitational held Monday and Tuesday and picked up his first career Summit League Men’s Golfer of the Week award.
The junior led the Jackrabbits to a third place finish on the Desert Course at the Primm Valley Golf Club. He also helped the Jacks break the record for lowest 54-hole score in school history at 855, previously held by the 2008 team at the Santa Clara Invitational (857).
The Stillwater, Minnesota-native shot rounds of 69, 68 and 73, with his 36-hole score of 137 tied for best in school history with Geoff Mead (2008) and his three-round score of 210 ranks fifth-best in school history.
Carpenter had seven birdies in round one and six a-piece in rounds two and three on the 7,090-yard, par-72 course.
