The American Physiological Society selected South Dakota State junior golfer Brian Wynia as one of 24 students nationwide to receive a prestigious summer fellowship.
"Brian is a model-student athlete that anyone connected to SDSU should be proud of," head golf coach Jared Baszler said. "Anything that Brian associates himself with turns into success. We're very proud he is a member of the Jackrabbit golf program and we wish him the best of luck completing this fellowship in a successful manner."
In an effort to concentrate on the fellowship this summer and to prepare to take the MCAT exam for entry into medical school next summer, Wynia made the tough decision to redshirt his fourth year.
The American Physiological Society fellowship includes a $4,000 stipend and a $1,300 travel award to attend the American Physiological Society annual meeting in Jackson, Miss., in October to present his research.
