Carpenter leads Jacks as record falls

PRIMM, Nev. - The South Dakota State men's golf team finished tied for third at the Jackrabbit Invitational at the Primm Valley Golf Club Desert Course. The Jackrabbit men compiled a team score of 863 (291-276-296).

Their 54-hole score of 863 was the second best 54-hole score in team history, their 36-hole score of 567 was the second best and their second-round 18-hole score of 276 was the best in school history.

Hudson Carpenter led the Jacks firing a score of 209 (71-67-71), making 15 birdies and one eagle, and finished in third place. Carpenter's second round 18-hole score of 67 is the third best in school history, his 36-hole score of 138 is tied for the second best and his 54-hole score of 209 is the third best.

Greg Fehrman and Dillon Schultz both finished tied for 24th shooting a 219 (77-68-74 and 72-70-77 respectively). Fehrman's second round 68 is tied for the ninth best in school history. David Smith carded a 220 (75-71-74) and finished tied for 28th. Nolan Meyer tallied a 229 (73-7581) and finished tied for 57.

Lukas Davison competed as individual for the Jackrabbits. He registered a 225 (74-75-76) and finished tied for 40th.

Idaho won the event with a team score of 849 (276-285-288), followed by UMKC at 853 and SDSU and Oral Roberts tied for third at 863. Korbin Kuehn of UMKC took medalist honors with a score of 205 (68-71-66).

The Jackrabbit men compete next at the Lamkin Grip Match Play in San Luis Obispo, Calif., on March 22.
