LOS CABOS, Mexico-- Bad weather in Cabo sounds strange, but that’s what happened south of the border with the Jackrabbit men’s golf team finishing 11th after only one complete round.
Round two was called off Monday due to heavy rains with golfers having four to six holes left. The rain and wind wouldn’t go away Tuesday at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate, forcing course officials to call off the remainder of the tournament.
Senior Greg Fehrman closed out the fall season by shooting a 73 in the single round at the 7,050-yard, par-72 course, ending up three stokes off of the lead to finish in a tie for fifth.
Ole Miss shot a tournament-best 296 to pace the field on the team side and the Jacks were only 19 strokes back on a very tight leaderboard.
University of Kentucky’s Will Bishop takes top honors with a 70, two strokes better than a trio of golfers who shot the course par of 72.
With the Cabo Collegiate being rained out, the fall portion of the schedule is complete. The Jacks now pack the clubs up for the winter and will open the spring season at SDSU’s other “home” meet, the Jackrabbit Invitational held in Primm, Nev., on March 11-12.
