South Dakota State University relief pitcher Trever Vermeulen has been Central Region Pitcher of the Week by CollegeBaseballInsider.com

In three outings last weekend against North Dakota State, the right-hander did not allow a run as he struck out 13 batters and walked only one in 10 innings of work, holding opposing batters to a .097 batting average. He was the winning pitcher in the opening game of the four-game series on May 6 and earned his eighth save of the season in the first game of a doubleheader on May 7. In a 15-inning marathon on May 8, Vermeulen tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings, recording a career-high eight strikeouts.

A senior, Vermeulen has posted a 2-0 record with a 0.98 earned run average in league games this season, while recording six saves and 36 strikeouts in 27.2 innings.

The Jackrabbits, 31-13 overall, travel to Tulsa, Okla., for a four-game series Friday through Sunday at Oral Roberts. SDSU holds a two-game lead over Oral Roberts for the top spot in the Summit League standings.
