The South Dakota State women's tennis team posted its second shutout in as many days with a 4-0 win at Omaha on Friday.

The Mavericks are the host of The Summit League cluster and the third meet for the Jacks in the past two days. SDSU defeated Oakland 4-1 and shutout South Dakota 4-0 on Thursday.

Once again the meet was played to decision and once again SDSU needed only doubles and three singles matches for the win.

In doubles, Ffion Davies and Jenny Blackburne continued as one of the top doubles teams in the league with a shutout win at No. 1 versus Alex Tran and Lindsay Weideman. The shutout marks the third time that the duo has not surrendered a single game and pushed the duo's record to 15-6 at the top spot and 4-1 in Summit play.

Beatriz Souza and Florencia Magni defeated Jacqueline Baude and Rachel Pierson 8-3 at No. 3. The duo upped its record to 11-3 on the season.

Omaha won at No. 2, but it was not enough as SDSU secured the team doubles point and the momentum.

In singles, Davies, Blackburne and Tacy Haws-Lay were winners at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5, respectively.

Davies defeated Molly Matricardi 6-4, 6-4 for her team-leading 16th singles win. Davies is 12-2 in the No. 2 slot and 4-1 in the league.

Blackburne defeated Baude 6-2, 6-3 and pushed her record to 11-11 in the process, but 9-6 at No. 3 and 3-2 in The Summit League.

Haws-Lay posted the most dominant performance with a shutout win versus Pierson. The "double bagel" improved her record to 14-7 overall and 5-1 in the league, after two wins on Thursday.

"Today was another good day of tennis for us," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "In these clusters, it can be easy to have a mental lapse, but so far we have stayed mentally strong. It is also great to put a winning streak together at the end of the season. It shows the girls that hard work pays off when it matters most. We need to stay strong and ready for IUPUI tomorrow."

The win, coupled with yesterday's wins, improved SDSU to 14-9 overall. More importantly, SDSU is 4-2 in The Summit League and third in the league standings with only one meet remaining.

Cluster play and the regular season concludes tomorrow for the Jacks versus IUPUI. Start time is set for 9 a.m. in Omaha, Neb.
