The South Dakota State women's tennis team was in action on Friday, playing the singles portion of the Hinds-Kellogg Tennis Tournament.
The tournament is being hosted by Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill., and concludes tomorrow with the doubles competition.
The tournament is separated into flights for positions in the lineup. For example, the No. 1 player from SDSU plays the No. 1 players from the other schools in a bracket, the No 2 player plays the No. 2 players, etc.
As a team, the Jacks finished 16-10 on the day.
Teams are allowed to send more than one player in each flight, which allowed both Goeden and Botzet to place at No. 6.
While those players had the most success, all SDSU players found the win column at least once on Friday.
"Overall it was another great day for the girls," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "Playing back to back singles matches is tough and everyone handled the challenge well. Just like last week in Omaha, every girl won a match, so we are showing great consistency as a team."
Next up for the Jackrabbits is a full day of doubles on Saturday with a similar structure to the singles play.
"Tomorrow will be another long day of tennis and we are excited to see what happens when we play doubles," said Engdahl.
Results will be made available as soon as possible following the conclusion of play.
