The South Dakota State women's tennis team dropped a close decision at The Summit League tennis cluster to IUPUI 4-3 on Friday...

In an important match-up with cluster host IUPUI, the Jacks dropped the always important doubles point and only mustered a split in the six singles matches.

In doubles, Jenny Blackburune and Brooke Henry teamed up for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles. The duo pushed its record over .500 with the win.

The other doubles teams did not fare as well. Megan McDougall and Bryna Nasenbeny were bested 8-5 at No. 2, while Bethany Goeden and Natalia Medina dropped the No. 3 match 8-3.

With a one point advantage, the Jaguars needed only a split in singles to earn the team victory, and that is exactly what happened.

Nasenbeny and Blackburne won in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 2. McDougall, the other Jackrabbit win, came in straight sets at No. 4, but needed a second-set tiebreaker to determine the outcome.

IUPUI survived two full third sets at No. 3 and No. 6 to take the meet 4-3.

Complete results from today's meet are available at the beginning of this article.

SDSU drops to 8-11 overall and 2-5 in league play.

The Jacks close out play at the league cluster with its final regular season meet against Southern Utah. Meet time is set for 2 p.m. in Indianapolis, Ind.
