Jackrabbits finish weekend strong

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Competing at both the Razorback Spring Invite Meet and the Wayne State Sunshine Meet, the South Dakota State women's track and field team saw great performances from many different athletes. Brooke Garner continued her great weekend as she found herself in the top-five again.

After winning the hammer throw yesterday, Garner finished fifth in the discus with her mark of 161’ 00.00”.

Megan Bren clocked in at 12.25 during the 100-meter dash.

Brooke Peterson finished the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:47.75. She won her section and finished fourth overall. Also in the 1500-meter, Krista Creager and Jessica Eibs finished seventh and eighth with times of 4:50.13 and 4:52.20.

Peterson also finished ninth in the 800-meter dash; She clocked in at 2:24.73.

Alex Suhr ran the 3000-meter in 10:32.77.

The 4X100-meter relay team finished in a time of 47.58, which is now the seventh best time in school history. They ended in the day in seventh overall, but finished one spot ahead of South Dakota. The team comprised of Ashley Odegaard, Bren, Gina Fritz and Carly Carper.

Lori Foltz took 12th in the 400-meter hurdles with her time of 1:05.18.

Amy Paulzine finished eighth in the discus throw with her toss of 148’ 6.00”.

In the high jump, Kali Olson finished in the top-ten with ninth place finish. She had a height of 5’ 5.00”.

Carper placed sixth in the long jump with her distance of 18’ 2.50”.

The Jackrabbits also competed at Wayne State Sunshine Meet.

Jenna Grossenburg completed the 1500-meter run in 5:10.00, finishing sixth in the event.

Jessica McDonald finished third in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:00.38 and she also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with her time of 26.86.

Rachel Hagberg placed 11th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.07 and in the 200-meter dash she placed 10th with her time of 28.05.

Bobbie McLaury took fourth in the 800-meter run 2:24.61 and Erica Meyer also finished in the top-ten with her 10th place finish. Meyer finished in 2:30.26.

Trisha Sumption placed in the top-ten in two events on the day. Sumption took 10th in the hammer throw with her mark of 145’ 02.00” and ninth in the shot put with her distance of 41’10.50”.

Meghan Lambert recorded a distance of 33’ 08.75” in the triple jump. Lambert finished 11th in the event.

Jenna Stephens tied for fifth in the high jump with her height of 5’ 01.00”.

In the 5000-meter run, Leah Bolon finished in 19:28.24.

SDSU had two top-ten finishes in the discus throw. Becca Fischer took fifth with her mark of 138’ 03.00”, while Kae Januschka placed eighth with a distance of 129’ 10.00”.

The Jackrabbits will be back in action again next weekend, as they will travel to Yankton, S.D. to compete in the SDSU/USD Duals hosted by the University of South Dakota. The meet will take place at the Yankton High School.
