Track heads to Fargo and Sioux Falls
The South Dakota State Track and Field teams are heading into their final competitions before The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Jackrabbits will be heading to Fargo, N.D. to compete in the NDSU Tune-Up and Sioux Falls, S.D. to compete in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays.
The NDSU Tune-Up will take place on Friday. The field events are slated to start at 2:30 p.m. with the women’s hammer throw and the running events are scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m. with the women's 3000-meter steeplechase.
Schools that are scheduled to attend are: Manitoba, Mary, Minnesota, North Dakota, NDSU and SDSU.
Howard Wood Dakota Relays
SDSU will also head down to Sioux Falls, S.D. to compete in the annual Howard Wood Dakota Relays. The Jackrabbits will compete in both days at the Relays. The field events on Friday begin at 11 a.m. with the women's hammer throw. On Saturday the events will start at 8 a.m. with the women's discus throw.
The Jackrabbits will leave on Tuesday to Muncie, Ind. to compete in The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 9-11. The championships are hosted by Fort Wayne, but will take place on the campus of Ball State Unviersity.
After the conference meet the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas takes place on May 23-25. The top 48 athletes in individual events will qualify, while the top 24 relay teams are accepted.
