Volleyball falls at South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. - South Dakota State struggled on the attack, lost the blocking battle 8-4 and eventually lost the match 3-0 at South Dakota on Friday night in Vermillion by the set scores of 15-14, 25-18 and 25-15.

The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 16-11 overall and to 8-6 in The Summit League. The Coyotes improve to 12-14 overall and to 6-8 in league play.

Kelly Herrmann led the Jackrabbit offense with 10 kills and hit .391 in the match with just one error in 23 attacks. She also added 12 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. Margit Hansing also finished with 12 digs to go along with her eight kills.  

Shay Birath finished with 15 digs in the loss, which leaves her 13 digs shy of breaking the SDSU career digs record of 1,929.

Kendall Kritenbrink led all players with 16 kills in the win. Riley Haug led the Coyotes defense with 17 digs.

The Jacks look to get back on the winning track on Sunday, when they take on UMKC at 2 p.m.
