South Dakota State junior outside hitter Ellyce Youngren garners the first Offensive Player of the Week award of the season after leading the Jackrabbits to the Air Force Invitational title and an undefeated opening weekend with victories over Boise State, Air Force and Long Island.  

A Brookings native, Youngren earned MVP honors at the tournament after recording a career-high 26 kills and career-high 17 digs in the Jackrabbits season-opening win over Boise State. For the weekend, she tallied 57 kills averaging 4.75 per set with a .226 hitting percentage, 33 digs and six service aces, tallying two double-doubles in the process.

Youngren and the Jackrabbits return to action this weekend at the Iowa State Challenge, starting with a match against Florida International on Friday at 4:30 p.m., followed by a date with No. 9 Iowa State on Saturday at 11 a.m., and then wrap-up the tournament on Sunday against Green Bay at 1 p.m.
