The Jackrabbits keep rolling along in The Summit League, winning their sixth straight league match in the only league match last weekend against North Dakota State. The 3-1 win also marked the Jacks first win over the Bison since in six tries dating back to the 2007 season and keeps SDSU in control of its own destiny when it comes to making the four team field at next weekend's Summit League Tournament in Fargo, N.D.
The win over North Dakota State came in huge contrast to how the week started, with a 3-2 loss to South Dakota, who made its first trip to Frost Arena since the 2003 season, only to avenge an early season loss to the Jackrabbits in Fargo. Fortunately for the Jacks though, they responded with a big win over the Bison to keep their postseason hope alive.
Ellyce Youngren leads the Jackrabbit offense after 27 matches with 327 kills and with 34 service aces. Kelli Fiegen ranks second on the team with 318 kills, leads all hitters with a .384 hitting percentage, and easily leads the team and with 128 total blocks, 41 solo and 87 block assists. Thyele Rechatiko handles the setting duties for the Jackrabbits and leads the team with 16 double-doubles, including each of the last four matches. Libero Shay Birath, the two-time defending Summit League Defensive Player of the Week, leads the Jackrabbit defense with 504 digs.
FIEGEN BREAKS FIVE SET RECORD - Middle blocker Kelli Fiegen broke the Jackrabbit record for hitting percentage in a five set match on Oct. 8, with 17 kills in 27 swings with just one error for an astounding .593 hitting percentage and led the Jacks to a 3-2 over Western Illinois in the process. Fiegen broke the old mark of .550 (12-1-20) set by Kim Bostrom vs. Harding (Ark.), on Aug. 31, 2002.
BIRATH EARNS SECOND STRAIGHT LEAGUE HONOR - Shay Birath earned her second straight Summit League Defensive Player of the Week award, the second of her career, after helping the Jackrabbits upset rival North Dakota State last Saturday.
A sophomore from Marshall, Minn., Birath started off the week in non-league action against South Dakota by recording 28 digs, an average of 5.6 per set and then tallied 24 digs averaging 6.0 per set in the 3-1 win over the Bison. On the week, she recorded two matches of 20-plus digs, totaling 52 digs, an average of 5.78 per set.

THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (12-12, 10-6 Summit) - The Golden Eagles come to Brookings riding a season-long four match win streak, with wins at Western Illinois and IUPUI two weeks ago and home wins over Southern Utah and UMKC over the weekend. Like the Jackrabbits and their six straight league wins, ORU's win streak keeps them very much in the mix to make four team field at next week's Summit League Tournament.
Tatum Fredeen leads the ORU offense with 228 kills and adds 17 service aces, tied for the second most on the team, but she also enters the week with a team-high 37 service errors. Bruna Silva leads the ORU defense with 276 digs, while Laura taylor leads the team with 518 set assists.
The Series vs. Oral Roberts - The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 5-2. The teams split the season series in both 2007 and 2009. ORU swept the season series in 2008, and won the first meeting of the 2010 season.
The First Meeting at Oral Roberts (9/26) - Just two days after starting its second win streak of the season, South Dakota State fell back into the loss column with a close 3-1 loss at Oral Roberts.
Centenary Ladies (3-21, 0-16 Summit) - The Ladies, who play at North Dakota State on Friday, end their season against the Jackrabbits on Saturday. The match also marks the end for Centenary in The Summit League and in Division I. Winless in their last two years of league play, the Ladies enter the week on a 19 match losing streak.
Stevie Hurlbirt leads the Ladies with 237 kills and ranks second on the team with 164 digs. Jaclyn Lopez leads the team with 220 digs and with 29 service aces, while Shelby

The Series vs. Centenary - The Jackrabbits lead the all-time series 7-0, all by the same 3-0 score.
NEXT UP FOR THE JACKRABBITS - As long as SDSU takes care of business this week at home, the Jackrabbits return to action next weekend at The Summit League Tournament in Fargo, N.D.
