ELMHURST, Ill. - The Summit League announced its volleyball academic all-league team at the conclusion of the season as voted on by the nine institution's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors. 

A total of six student-athletes earned the honor for their combined athletic and academic performances this season, including South Dakota State senior Kelly Herrmann.

"Kelly did a remarkable job for us on the court, and she brought that same drive and focus into the classroom," head coach Phil McDaniel said. "This is a well-deserved honor for all of her hard work and dedication."

A senior outside hitter from Rapid City, Herrmann maintains a 3.91 GPA in political science, and finished third on the team in kills with 219 and tied for third in points, averaging 2.2 points per set.

In order to gain eligibility for The Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must copile a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.  Six student-athletes make up the volleyball all-league team with all ties standing.
