Volleyball falls in four at South Dakota
VERMILLION – The South Dakota State volleyball team won the second set 25-20 and battled South Dakota in the fourth set, but fell short in the set 25-23 to drop the match by a 3-1 score by the final set scores of 17-25, 25-20, 13-25 and 23-25.
“A tough battle tonight and we played well,” head coach Phil McDaniel said. “I though we did a solid job defensively, which translated into an up tempo offense for us. This is the effort we need for the remainder of the season.”
The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 3-19 overall, and to 1-8 in The Summit League, while the Coyotes improve to 17-8 overall and to 8-2 in the league.
Wagner Larson led the Jackrabbits with 10 kills on the night, Tiara Gibson added eight kills and a matc-high five total blocks, four block assists and one solo block, while Courtney Roberts and Mikala Hora both finished with seven kills.
Kendall Kritenbrink led all players with 15 kills and added 11 digs for the double-double. Lindsey Brown finished with 14 kills, while both Sydney Dimke 11 and Audrey Reeg finished with 11 kills. Reeg added a 10 digs to complete her double-double.
The Jackrabbits get Saturday off to travel to Denver, Colo., where they play the Pioneers on Sunday at 2 p.m. MT.
