Volleyball Beats Omaha 3-1
BROOKINGS, SD – The South Dakota State volleyball team registered its first home win of the season Friday, defeating Omaha, 3-1, in Summit League play. The Jacks won the match 25-17, 25-12, 18-25 and 25-23.
The win improves SDSU’s records to 4-20 overall and 2-9 in league play. Omaha drops to 6-20 and 1-10.
“It was great to give the crowd a win tonight,’ head coach Phil McDaniel said. “The fans have been great all year. It’s a great feeling getting that first home win and I hope it continues into tomorrow night.”
Wagner Larson led the Jackrabbits with a match-high 13 kills on the night and Tiara Gibson tied her season-high in kills with 11. Kacey Herrmann led the defense with 20 digs, and Alanna Pengilly added 15. Lexi Fowler registered a double-double with 35 assists and 12 digs.
Kelley Wollak led Omaha with 12 kills. Kimberly Bailey had a team-best 20 digs and Kristy Wieser had 18.
The Jackrabbits return to action Saturday for a 7 p.m. match against Western Illinois.
