South Dakota State volleyball standout Mackenzie Angner, or “Ohio” as she’s known to the Jackrabbit volleyball faithful, retired her Jackrabbit uniform after the 2008 season, but that did not keep her off the court.
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native decided to further her career, when she accepted an invitation to take part in a ten day tour of Italy with USA Athletes International (USAAI).
She also accepted an invitation from her fans in Jackrabbit Nation to share her experiences with Jackrabbit fans in her “Italian Tour Blog”.

“Ohio” played on the first-ever South Dakota State team to ever play in an NCAA Tournament, when she and the 2007 team won the 2007 Summit League Tournament. The Jacks fell to perennial volleyball power Nebraska in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in front of a jam-packed OU Coliseum in Lincoln, Neb.
Angner returned in 2008, and went on to earn The Summit League’s Female Athlete of the Month for October and first-team all-conference honors after finishing the season ranked second in the nation with 5.07 kills per set.
