South Dakota State University volleyball players Kristie Klusaw and Samantha Pearson have been honored as Division I Independent volleyball players of the week.

Klusaw, a senior from Bellevue, Neb., received Setter of the Week honors afer posting 100 set assists in two Jackrabbit victories last week. Against Utah Valley State on Oct. 13, she recorded 40 assists, along with two service aces and one block in a sweep of the Wolverines. In a come-from-behind five-game victory over North Dakota State on Oct. 15, Klusaw contributed 60 assists, nine digs and two blocks.

Her averages for the week included 12.5 assists, 1.38 digs and .38 blocks per game.

Pearson earned Defensive Player of the Week recognition after becoming the 11th Jackrabbit player to record 1,000 career digs, accomplishing the feat during a 14-dig performance against Utah Valley State on Oct. 13. She then tallied a season-high 27 digs and a service ace in a five-game victory over North Dakota State on Oct. 15.

In two matches covering eight games, Pearson averaged 5.13 digs and .25 service aces per game.
