Recent South Dakota State graduate Ben Beran signed a contract to play professionally in Germany with USC Heidelberg.

Beran brings his strong work ethic, exceptional leadership skills and scoring prowess to tradition rich USC Heidelberg, a team seeking its 14th league championship.

Beran returns to Europe, where he recently joined a group of 12 current and former collegiate basketball players to spend 16 days competing against some of the top professional teams in Bulgaria and in the Czech Republic as a member of the Athletes in Action international touring men’s basketball team.

The Victor, Iowa native, played through injuries for much of his final season as a Jackrabbit, but still averaged 12.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, and became the 38th member of the SDSU 1,000 point club. Beran finished his career ranked 11th all-time at SDSU with 1,285 points.
