Senior forward Leah Dietel posted her first career double-double with a career-high 16 points and 10 rebounds and Ashley Eide tallied a game-high 25 points as South Dakota State pulled away for a 72-57 victory over Delaware State in non-conference women's basketball action Tuesday night at Frost Arena.

With their fourth win in five games, the Jackrabbits improved to 7-5 overall. Delaware State dropped to 2-7 on the season.

After the Hornets scored the first basket of the game, SDSU reeled off the next 10 points, including a three-pointer and basket by Eide. The Jackrabbit run continued as SDSU took a 21-5 lead on two Eide free throws with 13 minutes, 11 seconds remaining in the first half.

DSU, which started the game 3-for-16 from the field, put together a run of its own as it made eight of its next 10 shots from the floor to pull even at 30 with three minutes remaining in the front half.

The Jackrabbits then closed the half on a 9-2 run, with all points coming via the free throw line.

SDSU quickly regained a double-digit advantage in the second half and slowly extended the lead. The Jackrabbits continued to use the free throw line to their advantage as they built their largest lead of the night, 66-47, on two charity tosses by Gabby Boever with seven and a half minutes to play.

For the game, the Jackrabbits were 32-of-37 at the line for 86.5 percent, setting season highs in all three categories. From the field, SDSU ended the night 18-of-49, 36.7 percent, including 4-of-16 from three-point range.

Megan Waytashek also reached double figures for the Jackrabbits with 15 points.

Dietel's 10 rebounds, which tied a career high, paced SDSU's 40-36 advantage on the boards.

For Delaware State, Tierra Hawkins came off the bench to score 15 points. Deanna Harmon and Keyanna Tate each tallied 10 points, with Tate adding a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Hornets finished the night 20-of-59 from the field, 33.9 percent, including 2-of-6 on three-point tries. At the line, they made 15-of-20 attempts, 75 percent.

SDSU closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule Friday afternoon in Washington, D.C., against Georgetown. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. Eastern Time (1 p.m. Central). The Jackrabbits open Summit League play Dec. 30 at home against North Dakota State.

NOTES: Tuesday's matchup marked the first meeting between SDSU and Delaware State in women's basketball ... the Jackrabbits improved to 2-0 against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponents and recorded a victory over their 56th different Division I opponent since moving to the D-I ranks at the start of the 2004-05 season ... Eide scored in double figures for the ninth time this season and topped the 20-point mark for the third time during the 2012-13 campaign ... Eide made all nine free throw attempts, while Dietel was 8-of-11 at the stripe ... Dietel's previous career high for points was 14 in a November 2010 game against Hampton (Va.) ...
