Paluch Earns Second Weekly Honor
BROOKINGS, S.D. — Senior Steph Paluch (Pierre) earned her second weekly honor Monday when she was named The Summit League Co-Player of the Week after helping the South Dakota State women’s basketball team to a 2-0 week and a pair of big wins.
Paluch, who was the league’s Nov. 18 Player of the Week, was named the College Sports Madness Summit League Mid-Major Player of the Week early Monday.
Paluch, a 5-foot-10 guard, averaged 16 points and 3 rebounds while shooting 35 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and was perfect from the free-throw line, sinking all 14 shots.
In the upset win over then-No. 12/12 Penn State, Paluch scored a career-high and game-high 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, and 6-for-6 shooting from the charity stripe.
In the win over Central Michigan, Paluch scored 14 points, sinking 2 three-pointers and making 8 for 8 from the foul line, including going 6 for 6 in the final 1:16 to secure the Jackrabbits’ win.
South Dakota State returns to action Tuesday when it concludes a three-game homestand with a 7 p.m. game vs. Northern Illinois.
