The South Dakota State University women's basketball team recently conducted a successful diaper drive to help families in need in the Brookings community.
Team members collected more than 2,000 diapers and nearly $1,050 in donations at Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart in Brookings on Oct. 14. The donations were used to purchase 5,800 more diapers and 1,500 baby wipes.
The 7,800 diapers were distributed as part of a Harvest Table event held at First United Methodist Church in Brookings on Oct. 29. Jackrabbit student-athletes assisted with all phases of the event, from packing individual bags of diapers, to setting up the grocery food line to entertaining children with activities. The team is proud to give back to Brookings community that has provided so much support to the women's basketball program.
