The South Dakota State men's tennis team defeated Western Illinois 5-2 on Friday for its second-straight postseason berth.

The two teams played out the entire meet and the Jackrabbits won four singles matches to lock up its Summit League Championships berth.

SDSU opened the meet with the advantage after a sweep in doubles.

Andrea Boglić and Parker Lawley improved to 8-4 at the top spot with a 9-8 (10-8) win versus Christoph Haertel and Bradley Holt. The eight wins are the most of any SDSU doubles team.

Mateus Moreira and James Thorp defeated Mitch Granger and Ben Yue by one break of service at No. 2, while Henrique Pereira and Lucas Pereira posted the most convincing victory at No. 3 with an 8-3 win versus Patrick Hammers and Brandon Meeker.

With the doubles point in hand and momentum seized, the Jacks won four of the six singles matches for the win.

Lawley improved to a team-best 12-6 and remained undefeated in league play with a three-set win at No. 2. Lawley defeated Hammers 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 in the closest contest of the night.

H. Pereira, Thorp and L. Pereira were straight-set winners at No. 4, 5 and 6, respectively for the remainder of the points.

H. Pereira needed the least amount of games in a 6-2, 6-2 win versus Yue. Thorp needed a second-set tiebreaker to defeat Granger 6-4, 7-6 (6-4). L. Pereira closed out the night with a 6-4, 6-2 win versus Max Cederkall.

"Today was another great day for the tennis program," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "We maintained a high level of focus and energy for the entire match, which is huge for us. Western is a much improved team from last year and the match was a battle. It is awesome to see our team stay mentally strong during the big moments. We get the evening to celebrate making the finals and then we are right back to work to play for a higher seed versus Fort Wayne."

SDSU upped its record to 10-10 overall, but more importantly, 3-1 in The Summit League and is postseason bound. It is the second-straight season the Jacks reached the postseason.

The men's tennis team joined the women's tennis team in the postseason after the women qualified last weekend.

The Jacks close out the regular season tomorrow versus Fort Wayne. Start time is set for 12 p.m. in Macomb, Ill.
