Soccer hosts Fort Wayne on Senior Day
FORT WAYNE 6-9-1 (3-1-1)
SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 10-4-2 (5-1-0)
Fort Wayne is heading into the final weekend of Summit League play with their playoff hopes still alive. They are competing with North Dakota State and Western Illinois for two of the final playoff spots. The Bison host the Mastodons on Friday night in Fargo, N.D., with playoff implications on the line. Gaby Romo and Andie Lazzerini both have three goals apiece to lead the Fort Wayne offense. Sam Pavlika has posted five shutouts on the year and has played every minute (1477:14) in net for Fort Wayne.
Last weekend, they defeated South Dakota and Omaha each by a score of 1-0. Their only loss in conference play came against No. 13 Denver (4-0).
SDSU is coming off their first loss of the conference season last week against No. 13 Denver. The Jackrabbits lost 4-0 last Friday night in Denver. Depending on the outcome on Friday night between Fort Wayne and North Dakota State, the Jackrabbits can solidify the second seed on Sunday. With a shutout on Sunday, Nicole Inskeep will tie the record for most shutouts in a season with 11. If Inskeep records the win on Sunday she will move into a tie for fourth place with Elisa Stamatakis for wins in a season with 11.
